Race to the Finish Line

April 5, 2010 punishers 0

With the first place all but sealed to Yoshi’s Cookies (let me be the first to congratulate you on your wonderful year and first SFHL title since the inception of the league in 2008). You have done a wonderful job in drafting some key players that many did not expect to have such monstrous years. And, you have done this by turning over your team atleast twice, and in so doing also trading away some key members of your team. I congratulate you. However, there is still a race for 2nd place with Patriots holding the fort going into the last week with a 9 point lead. Good luck to both teams. The 4th place is still not assured, as 1 point stands between HL in 4th and Goodfellas in 5th. This is interesting to watch as the stretch run is upon us. Who will win the first ever BONBONNIERE PRIZE for finishing in fourth place? And perhaps the most important question is: Who really wants to win first ever bonbonnier prize? The last battle, that is also intriguing to mention, is the battle for 3rd last overall between MX, MAG, and PUN. 6 points is the total difference between PUN in 11th and MX in 13th, with MAG in 12th 5 points ahead of MX. This battle for third suckiness has been ongoing for the last 3 weeks, with some surprising pick-ups and line-up changes. Although far from the bottom two teams (which were expected to finish bottom 2 – sorry ON7 and UM), this third overall pick could be a key factor for these three teams for the future to come. Perhaps it is a battle that will be questioned by many in terms of the tactics, and future rule changes will be included to avoid this, but until then, let’s enjoy the stretch run and see who finishes 3rd last in the pool. As it has been mentioned by one GM in the 2009 season in multiple occasions “Show me where in the rule book this is wrong. If it doesn’t specifically say it in the rules, it is fair game”. I would make reference to the Vince Rule adopted in 2009. See you all at the finish line. Enjoy the last week of the NHL regular season. Can’t wait for Playoff hockey to start. Go HABS GO, and for the other GM’s in the league not HABS fans, Go Hawks and Bruins (even though it kills me as a habs fan to write this in this blog) Regards, Franco Mucci GM and President of the Punishers Acting member of the SFHL board members

Congratulations to USA winning Gold

January 6, 2010 punishers 0

The GM and President of the Punishers would like to formally congratulate the USA junior team for winning gold last night, and the Canadian boys settling for silver. They provided quite an entertaining game for our pleasure as a finale to the tournament. I would also like to congratulate John (“Hot Carl”) Carlson for his great game winning goal against the Canadians in overtime to push the Americans to the top jumpers for sale in los angeles. On another note, Congratulation to the man formally referred to by Jay Onrait as Mr. Miracle, Mr. Clutch, Baby face assasin, and known as a prolific goal scorer to Bob Mckenzie and Pierre McGuire, my boy, and first round pick by the Punishers in 2009, Mr. Jordan Eberle, for not only scoring the last two goals of the game to tie the game up (as i so boldly predicted last night at Victoria’s), and not only for winning the player of the game for Canada, but for also winning the tournaments top forward honours and MVP honours. These are great accomplishments for my young star.  He has now surpassed the likes of John Tavares, Eric Lindros and Jeff Carter for the most goals scored by a Canadian at the men’s junior tournament. He looks to have a promising career with the Edmonton Oilers, and the Punishers are glad to have selected him in the first round. We are looking to forward to next year and inserting the Baby face assasin into our lineup. The future looks promising for Jordan and the Punishers. Look out. Thank you. P.S. Guys on the trading block to make room for my boy: Setoguchi Brassard Pavelski Arnott Fisher Bourque Also maybe – Barker I am looking for d-men, depth forwards and draft picks. Best regards, GM, President of the Punishers (and soon to be announced disciplinarian of the SFHL (the new Collin Campbell LOL))
